  1. Great discussion on a great season premiere. I get chills at the thought that Vader and Ashoka now both know the other is out there…! (They better let Ashoka survive into the sequel trilogy era!)

You may be right that too many of the first episode’s seasons were “light-hearted.” On the other hand, I’m convinced that tone is what has hooked my 7-year-old daughter on the show, and now the universe has one more Star Wars fan. We’ve gone on to watch Episodes IV and V (VI and the prequels coming soon); she’s asking for Star Wars books and reading them voraciously, from all eras and settings of the saga; she’s even writing her own Star Wars fan fiction (a crossover with FROZEN, of all things). So I think the powers that be know what they’re doing.

I do hope REBELS will avoid some of the intense darkness that crept into THE CLONE WARS around season 3… My son (he was about 10 at the time, I think) decided it had gotten “too dark,” and we stopped watching. I still haven’t seen the last 2-1/2 years of the show; I felt like a bad dad, urging him to watch it, and him telling me, “No, Dad, it’s too violent!” 😉

PS. Lando’s droid’s accent bothered me at first, too; on the other hand, why does 3PO sound British? I think, had the droid been “talking jive” or something, that would be over the top; as it was, I think it’s just another expression of diversity among droid programmers!

    1. Wow, awesome comment Mike! I agree with you that the chills are multiplying with Vader and Ahsoka back and what might happen. I am not sure what will happen with the darkness of the show, seems like it could go to TCW level just because this is still a very dark time. All in all I just cannot wait for what comes next!
